The Janitor cleans and keeps in an orderly condition factory working areas and washrooms, or premises of an office, apartment house, or commercial or other establishment. Duties involve a combination of the following: Sweeping, mopping or scrubbing, and polishing floors; removing chips, trash, and other refuse; dusting equipment, furniture, or fixtures; polishing metal fixtures or trimmings; providing supplies and minor maintenance services; and cleaning lavatories, showers, and restrooms.
1. Cleaning rooms, hallways, lobbies, lounges, restrooms, corridors, elevators, escalators, break room, library, kitchenette, stairways, and locker rooms and other work areas.
2. Sweeping, scrubbing, waxing, and polishing floors using brooms and mops and powered scrubbing and waxing machines.
3. Cleaning rugs, carpets, upholstered furniture, and draperies, using vacuum cleaner.
4. Dusting furniture and equipment.
5. Polishing metalwork, such as fixtures and fittings.
6. Washing walls, ceiling, and woodwork.
7. Washing windows, door panels, and sills.
8. Emptying wastebaskets.
9. Transporting trash and waste to disposal area and recycle to designated areas.
10. Replenishing bathroom supplies.
11. Responsible for working with a positive team spirit and producing quality work.
12. Responsible for appropriate conduct and demeanor as dictated by Didlake Policy.
13. Responsible for following safety standards and guidelines in the proper use of equipment and other activities.
14. Completes and maintains all Didlake required trainings.
15. Other duties as assigned.
Education and Requirements:
High School diploma or 6 months previous custodial work experience
Skills and Abilities:
Ability to carry out simple but detailed oral instructions. Ability to communicate with co-workers and work as part of a team. Must possess a positive team member attitude and the ability to interact effectively with employees with disabilities. Ability to work in environments with narrow, moving and/or slippery surfaces. Close proximity to moving mechanical parts, and exposure to dust, odors, fumes, mists and toxic or caustic chemicals.
Physical:
Lifting and/or moving 20-50 lbs. frequently and 50+ lbs. occasionally. Frequent standing, walking, stooping, sitting, pulling, lifting, carrying, pushing, climbing stairs. EOE. M/F/D/V
