The Janitor cleans and keeps in an orderly condition factory working areas and washrooms, or premises of an office, apartment house, or commercial or other establishment. Duties involve a combination of the following: Sweeping, mopping or scrubbing, and polishing floors; removing chips, trash, and other refuse; dusting equipment, furniture, or fixtures; polishing metal fixtures or trimmings; providing supplies and minor maintenance services; and cleaning lavatories, showers, and restrooms (WDR Summary 11150).
1. Cleans and keeps in an orderly condition working areas and washrooms of an office, or commercial or other establishment.
2. Sweeping, scrubbing, waxing, and polishing floors using brooms and mops and powered scrubbing and waxing machines.
3. Cleaning rugs, carpets, upholstered furniture, and draperies, using vacuum cleaner.
4. Dusting furniture and equipment.
5. Polishing metalwork, such as fixtures and fittings.
6. Washing walls, ceiling, and woodwork.
7. Washing windows, door panels, and sills.
8. Emptying wastebaskets.
9. Transporting trash, waste and other refuse to disposal area.
10. Cleaning restrooms’ fixtures, floors, walls, and replenishing supplies.
Posses the ability to pass and hold a security clearance background check. 6 months work experience or high school diploma/GED. Ability to carry out simple but detailed oral instructions. Ability to communicate with co-workers and work as part of a team; and the ability to interact effectively with co-workers with disabilities. Lifting and/or moving 70 lbs. frequently and 50+ lbs. occasionally. Frequent standing, walking, stooping, sitting, pulling, lifting, carrying, pushing, climbing stairs. EOE. m/f/v/d
